Porkstock was founded by James Ellis, Tom Ellis and Ben Handford.
“Porkstock started out as a group of old friends getting together for an annual barbecue with lots of great local meat and beer,” explains James. “In 2014, after ten years of Porkstock growing and growing, we decided to make it a public event. Luckily we were able to tempt Charlie Hodson, founder of Charlie’s Norfolk Food Heroes, and Sarah Daniels, founder of the Red Cat Partnership, to join us and between us turned an informal gathering into an awesome – and award winning - food and drink festival. The event is run entirely by a team of hard-working volunteers; with all profits going to a local charity. For the second year in a row, Nelson’s Journey, which supports bereaved children in Norfolk, will be the beneficiary for 2017”.
Don't miss this years event on Saturday Oct 14th.
Thanks from Team Pork to all of our 2017 sponsors – we couldn’t even start to think about running Porkstock without the support of the fantastic guys and girls below - check them out and share the porcine love!
As many of you will know already, our aim with Porkstock is not to make profit - we simply want to do some good for local charities whilst celebrating local food… and having a lot of fun doing it.
This year our nominated charity is Nelson’s Journey who are dedicated to supporting bereaved children and young people throughout Norfolk.
Based in Norwich, they were founded in 1997 and have helped hundreds of children between the ages of 0 to 17, who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life e.g. parent or sibling.
The folks in the pink T-Shirts who make it all happen...
This year we are going to need more volunteers to join the infamous TEAM PORK. We will be looking for up to 100 people to help us to setup and break down, inform people about what is going on during the day, direct traffic, man the bars and games and many other little and big jobs! We’ll need helpers during our daytime food festival and also to help in the evening, as well as some hands to help the day before and the day after with the setup and break down.
Being part of TEAM PORK is great fun and you’ll really feel part of the porky action, we can promise that! Because we are running on very tight budgets and any spare money we raise this year is going to our nominated charity, Nelson’s Journey, we will be relying on people to volunteer their time. However, as well as being part of the fun we have also put together a package of things to tempt you onto the TEAM.
